ROBERT PERRY IVEY

Homebirth

On the night I was born, my parents fought
over my registration, like a dog
tag, my SS number, should I be logged
into the system, whether or not
to home school, work odd jobs that pay only
in cash my whole life. Can you imagine
never voting, drifting, how would you even
explain that life to your fourth fiance´?
But then again, elections are stolen,
schools broken, and if you say revolution
over the phone a computer clicks on
somewhere. This strange type of outside freedom,
this unattached world view, may make you the one
with the courage to do what must be done.
